Terry L. Pierce

Representing:  Secretary, North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources

Mr. Pierce graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BS in Biology.  Later he received the Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He worked as an environmental health specialist with the Iredell County Health Department for 6 years.  In 1986, he was appointed as health director for the Transylvania County Health Department, where he served for 17 years.  He was appointed to his current position, Director, Division of Environmental Health, NCDENR, in January, 2004.

Mr. Pierce is a member of the National Environmental Health Association, the North Carolina Public Health  Health & Public Health Management Sections, the Western North Carolina Public Health Association, Environmental Health & Public Health Management Sections, the Eastern District North Carolina Public Health Association, Environmental Health Section and the Environmental Health State of Practice Committee.

Mr. Pierce is currently serving as  the Vice-Chairman of the Board.
