Mr. Pierce attended East Carolina College. He taught in the N.C. Public School System for 2 years and worked with Migrant Labor Camps for two summers under the direct supervision of the Environmental Health Section of a District Health Department.  He served in the Environmental Health Section of a District Health Department for 27 years until his retirement in 1993.
